Let me give some background info:

I've only lost 1 chick to a cat. I have 30 chicks that are 3 days old. I am going to move them outside with a lamp. Will this be secure?

Outermost perimeter- 6 foot chain link fence
Inside Perimeter- 1 black lab-doesn't touch chickens
    pasture fence (chicken area)
Inside the pasture area there is a rabbit hutch converted to a coop with a small run covered over head with netting. Then I am taking my old trampoline and stapling it to the side and want to bury it into the ground. But how far to bury?

what do you have around your chain link fencing? We have chicken wire around ours and over that we have green plastic chicken fencing which we purchased from Lowes - costs $11 approx from Lowes. Our 8 week old chicks are then put up at night in a henhouse. We have buried nothing into the ground, but put a light inside the run area at night andalso have a radio. Predators then think there are humans in the area and keep away. Look at my page and you'll see my coop and run....
