How far will chickens wander?

Some dogs are great with chickens, but those bred for herding or small game hunting, like terriers, are typically not.

I had an entire flock of Australorps killed by my own well trained dogs once. The ringleader was a terrier, followed closely by a border collie. The other two just went along with the fun. No chicken was eaten, merely killed. That is common with domestic dog attacks.

There is always someone to say how wonderful their dog is around the poultry (and we'll soon hear from them if this dog topic continues). But in my esteem, NO dog should be trusted. This goes doubly for strays, feral dogs and true wild canines.

To be blunt, it is you (and your chickens) against them. Who do you expect should prevail?
