How fast could i get a coop done?

I'm with Omran - it took me a while to figure out my first coop, because as great as my ideas were, the devil is always in the details. I designed mine from scratch and it's 8X10 and 6 feet tall. My coop's mostly built - and I have chicks in my bathroom so I'd better get to getting it done (busted Patricia Jane's and ScottyHOMEy's first rule of coop building - yikes!). It's definitely going to depend on whether you want to build it yourself or get someone to build it for you. Whatever road you choose, figure it will probably take about 3 or 4 times longer to complete than you anticipate

And under $500 is going to be tough...

Lol I have three coops right now For my 8 chickens. The quickest and the one they use right now was a rough and ready job b/c my 'chicks' were outgrowing our living room

it took me 4 hours for a 3x3. My first coop is about 3/4 done (4x6) but got interrupted b/c I had an unexpected surgery, so far it's been 3 months in the making (pretty much on hold til my recovery is complete). And my 3rd coop is 3x4 and is a long story. It's close to completion and will be the girls home until I complete the first coop, it's been about six weeks since I started it... So the short answer is, it depends! My 'make-do' coop took 4 hours and is ugly and functional. My other coops are taking longer and will look very nice!
