How good is the nikon d700?

I'm buying the nikon d700 camera and was wondering what everyone's experience and opinion is with this camera. Should I invest in the nikon d800 instead? Is it much better than the 700?Would also like to know what lens everyone uses.

The best place to ask this question is in a dedicated camera forum in the Nikon section. The Nikon D800 is 4 years newer than the D700. It is 36MP vs the D700's 12MP. It will record video which the D700 cannot do.

Both are outdated cameras that have been replaced by newer models. Both can use the same lenses.
