I’m also on BYH, and we are a much smaller forum.....but, we all know each other very well because of it. Someone started this thread, and it’s amazing the reaction it has gotten. I thought I’d start it on here too? So, as for us...my Son is a junior at Slippery Rock university. His school is shut down righ5 now, and looks to be going online for the rest of the year. He is furious because he is a 4.0 student in sports medicine and many of his classes this year are hands on. Plus he has an internship that, is now cut short because he was the strength and conditioning coach for the football team. He was signed up to run another 100 mile ultra marathon in March, of course it’s been canceled. We listened to a podcast by a scientist by one of the men working on the vaccine. He said that the people who are totally freaked out need to calm down, but the people who aren’t worried need to get concerned. He said they could have a vaccine tomorrow but it would be untested and not safe, so they need to test a vaccine, which takes time. He said this is not only a few weeks issue. He said to be prepared for at least 3-6 months of this. He said the younger population might not be dying, but they are carriers and they need to be controlled so they don’t give it to the weaker ones. He said there has been a major health crisis every 100 years killing many people...the plague, the Spanish flu...this is ours. He said it might be a strain of the cold, but the flu started out that way. There is no way to kill this thing right now, so, clearly it kills. You need to take precautions so, that your immune system is healthy enough that if you do get it, it can be up to the task of fighting it...like using hand sanitizer, to fight off germs in public. He said, if it’s not necessary to run an errand..,then don’t. Save your trips up, and get everything at once. Apparently the TP is gone because people are making it into face masks? Diarrhea is not one of the symptoms. So, as for me....I do have auto immune...but, I’m not going to let this dictate my life. I’m going to be smart about this! But, I live on my farm and don5 go many places much anyways. We are going to a farm auction Saturday. I’m hoping there won’t be many people, and it will be outside. I’m taking vitamins to help my body be strong. I’m washing my hands more. But, as I’ve told many people...if I should get it...and I would die...then at least I would die happy because I got to have my farm and live my dream! So, as for all of you reading this thread...please take precautions, because, but don’t be paranoid because stress is not good for our immune systems. Enjoy your animals, they make everything better!! Listen to the news. Stay safe!! :)

My mom and I are already respitorily compromised, I with bad asthma and her with COPD so we are staying home as much as possible and limiting contact with people outside of close family. My husband has stoped going to the casino. We all wash our hands for frequently. We are worried it but we are also following the CDC guidelines to give us the best chance of staying safe.

Ageing parents locked into their facilities, no visitors, if they leave they may not return. My wife and I stocked up and are home for the duration. We have eggs and chickens for the long run. She has finally figured out how to end my chicken project. :(

I am middle aged so I’m not concerned so much for my health though I do have some family memebers with weak immune systems due to illnesses...but for me it’s my job I am a bartender and live in Ohio so we been shut down with no idea when we can go back...I’m praying we all get through this quickly I can’t live without making money...and that scares me the most..being able to provide for myself and family

My daughter is a third grader and the school system has been closed this week and next. I honestly don't see it opening back up this school year, but I'm okay with being wrong. I have a small dog grooming business and it's not looking good. If my clients wanted to keep their appts, I don't know how comfortable I would be having their dog all over me and all in my face. I also have a weakened immune system, lung damage and asthma. My immune system is weakened because of Xeljanz XR, a Rx I take to keep my immune system from attacking my joints and skin. I'm going to call my Rheumatologist tomorrow and ask if I should stop this med. I really hate to because this is the first med that's ever given me relief from my Psoriatic arthritis and chronic plaque Psoriasis. I'd rather suffer with that than miss the rest of my 8 year old daughters life. An obgyn was our county's first case and he was diagnosed/confirmed yesterday. Here in NC, our confirmed cases increase each day, in spite of statewide school closures, restaurant/bar closures, etc. This morning we were at 92 cases and 1 confirmed in my county. This is certainly concerning but I try to not stress about it. We have what we need and we'll make do with whatever we don't have. Supplies are limited here, so we are definitely not set for the long run, but I'm confident that things will work out, even if this is the beginning of the end. I think the uncertainty of everything is what's most concerning. Stay well everyone. I love this place and the members so much and I'll be incredibly sad if I couldn't connect on here. BYC is my favorite place to be

Hi y'all. Sorry this is happening, and to hear of how this is affecting everybody. Hopefully your stores will be re-stocked soon. What's different? Um ... pretty much everything! Our Walmart was cleaned out for a while but now it seems they are limiting the numbers of items people can buy, so that's helping. The other day I started to make spaghetti and then realized I had no sauce. But I did have tomato sauce and pizza sauce, so I just mixed those and hey, it wasn't bad!

DH made a run to town today (I'm the one with health issues) and was able to get almost everything on the list, although not necessarily my favorite brands. Ah well. TP is TP, right?

Our kids (grandkids that we are raising) were in spring break when this hit, due to go back to school 3/22. Then we were told they should stay out till the 29th. Then April 9th. Now it's the 13th or until further notice. Probably no going back this school year. That's one major deal.

The other major deal is there will be no more church services until further notice, either. My local congregation is small and elderly, most over 80. Few have the capability to stream services on line. My heart hurts for the spiritual isolation of these dear people. But of course I understand the necessity. We're strong. We'll get through this. It'll be okay!
