Now my husband and I are completely new to the duck scene.

His mom works at a store out here called Big R store, kind of like a Farm n Fleet....not sure if there are any near you guys.

During the spring time they sell ducks, chickens, turkeys, geese etc.

I am a huge animal person, and so is my husband. In the previous year I had expressed how I would like to have a duck, well this year she decided to buy me one.

Now being a nature person myself I knew the basic about ducks but didn't do extremely search until we got Floki.

Anyway, my husband is a Veteran and due to his two deployments and alomst a decade in the Army, he's come home with some issues, like most if not all the Vets coming home.

Now I'm not sure if where you are at you've heard of the Veterans Affairs, (VA) scandals and corruption.....but it has hit home hard here in Chicago. Causing a lot of issues.... even trying to get a simple appointment for my husband takes months.

Well with some issues we can not wait months for things to go through.

But getting Floki has come with some unexpected, but amazing consequences.

She has helped my husband with his PTSD, depression, anxiety.....well you get the idea. I, myself am battling health issues as well.

She keeps us active and is always a clown....a smile no matter how hard the day is.

And we've always had dogs....but Floki has been something different, it's hard to explain.

I would like to hear if anyone else has gotten this, unforseen, but life changing results from getting their ducks when that was not the intended purpose.

What a sweet story, my husband is a veteran of the Viet Nam era, and I can vouch for the fact that animals play a huge role in helping people over come major problems like PTSD. They do make us laugh and relax and always are happy to see us. I have a BYC bumper sticker on the back of my car which reads. Back Yard Chickens is cheep therapy and it's so true not just chickens but ducks /geese and other poultry including our dogs. Thank you so much for sharing your story and thank you for your service.
