How high can your guineas fly???

We have an 8 foot chainlink fence surrounding our chicken run (the previous owner housed her pet fallow deer in there) and would love to have a Pearl Guinea. I would, however, need the guinea to "stay put" in our run (50'x50') - how high can they fly? Can they be happy in a run of this size?

mine roost in the top of a tall cedar tree and I have seen them fly over our house and over the chicken run.marrie

Nope sorry, 8 ft would be a piece of cake to them. Mine fly up onto our roof just to mess with me

Is it cruel to clip their wings....or "good luck getting THAT job done??"

mine if they are trying to get away from something so fly up over my 15-15.5 tall house.

That is up to you. I know I thought about it but since mine will not stay in the run and fly over it I want them to be able to have a chance at getting away from predators. Mine do not settle down in the roost calmly like the chickens do. so if I tried to pick one up it would be bedlam in there.
