How high do chickens fly?

I am in the process of finishing my chicken run. It probably has 5 1/2 foot tall sidewalls, but we don't have the ceiling covered yet & I'd like to let the chickens out sooner rather than later, but am worried they will be able to fly out. I don't really want to clip their wings because I have 17 chickens & that would take a lot of time. Just wondering if they would stay contained in their or not. Thank you!!!

You should be fine as long as they don't have something to hop on (like their coop) and then fly out. Mine are good to about 4 1/2 feet. The smaller bodied ones tend to be better flyers too.
