How high off the ground should nipple waterer be?

I just made a waterer out of a 5-gallon bucket with 2 push-in nipples in the bottom of it.

How high should the nipples be off the ground for standard-sized adult chickens?

I have mine 18" off the ground. Just high enough that they have to tilt their heads up to reach the nipple and tap it.
