how high to place nest boxes

how high should i place my nest boxes off the floor? what do yall recommend. I am putting up 4 of them for 13 birds. I will have a perch in front of the box about 3-1/2" out so the poo won't get in the box. But how high would you place them off the floor? Thanks!!

Some people actually place them on the floor. From pictures I've seen here most people seem put them about 10 - 15 inches off the floor.

Mine are two rows (one on top of the other) the bottom row is about 12 inches off the floor and the top row is about 24 inches off the floor. Mine use both the top and bottom equally.

Just remember the really important thing is to put your roosts above your nest boxes. Otherwise you may end up with chickens sleeping in the nest boxes and you'll have poopy eggs.

Yeah i was definetely going to put my roosts on the other side of the coop away from the nest boxes completely.

I have mine about 30 inches above the floor. I must admit I do this for my sake. It is easier to collect eggs. I don't have to bend over!!

I have all different types of breeds and even the heavy breeds have no trouble get into the boxes.

that sounds good too, i like the not bending over part, i just bought a seeder for the garden, best thing i ever did in my life, thanks for the input.
