curious to how high you have your Roost? DW had me make a platform and a stair rail the goes up to it , I thought they may use the rails but instead all gather on the platform but am starting to think I made it too tall as a couple of the Hens have a limp now and I'm thinking they hurt themselves flying down. They are kinda fat tho lol.

Poop deck set at 34" off the floor. The heavier birds use the ramp up and down.
Roosts set 13" over the poop deck. Prevents roosted birds from easily getting head shots in on birds looking for a spot on the roost.

The "Breed Facts" section on Cackle Hatchery's description pages includes suggested roost heights for each breed.

I plan to put the roosts in my new coop just below my shoulder height so that I can conveniently pick them off the roost to tend to them. The coop will be big enough to have plenty of fly-down distance and I may put another roost a little lower to allow a step down or for subordinate birds to roost on. I'll see if I do or don't need a roost ramp as the situation evolves.

Pics would help here.
Height of roost may depend on how big coop is.
It only needs to be higher than nests.

Here's my thoughts on heights:
