We just installed a ventilation fan to blow the hot air out. I too have a metal roof. I have a 4x8 coop for 3 hens. All of the sides of my coop are 1/2 inch hardware cloth except for the north side is enclosed with plywood. The ventilation fan is on the north side and I have a regular 10" fan on the south side. With the vent fan really helps but my girls only go in the coop to eat and sleep and lay. They prefer the big oak tree in the backyard for shade. Their run is only partial shade and not much of a breeze. Because of city ordinance we couldn't build under the big oak. Now they say tommorrow it may get pretty close to 100. Yuck. Oh, the fan on the south I run on low just to move the air from one end to the other. I'm dreading July and August.
