My opinion-that's plenty enough humidity for the first 17 days. If you candle and check the air cell during incubation (especially days 7&14, that will alert you to wether you need to increas or decrease the humisity for eggs. (An air cell too small.....lower humidity. An air cell too big....Higher humidity.) This is what they should be at those days:
Thank you. last night I put a damp cloth in the bator and put the egg on it. Than this morning I took it off fearing that there could be bacteria on it. Do you think it is still all right? The egg, that i know of is growing. I candled it Tuesday so I don't want to candle it till the 12th of this month(Day 10 of development).or should I candle sooner. I was going to whate that long so I'm not touching it that much. also I use a spoon to turn it so I am not touching it and I wash the spoon before I use it again.My opinion-that's plenty enough humidity for the first 17 days. At lockdown/hatch, you will need to get the humidity up at least 65% range. I use wet sponges in mine. Some use wet cloths. Anything sterile/clean that will increase the surface area of water in the bator.
As long as you are washing your hands before handling the eggs, turning/candling/adjusting shouldn't be an issue.
OK thank you for your good information and i too love to candle them i do it every day 3x a day( every time is turn them).It should be fine. I've had porous eggs in with my hatches and did nothing special for them. I'm a candle junkie, so I am constantly monitoring my eggs. (I do spot checks every night.) My porous eggs fair as well as all the rest, so I wouldn't worry about it.
