How I battled squirrels last summer

clever attempt! Nice to see someone else actually trying to solve the problem. If it was made out of metal it might actually work. A lip needs added projecting inside the feeder to help slow down the feed raking and waste. Good try though, squirrels are tough to stop.

Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind comment! I could see it will take many revisions if I want to continue with this design. But I had fun in the process ! :-D
 
Mix hot chili peppers in with the feed. Birds can't taste it but squirrels/chipmunks/mice/rats can and learn not to eat from it.
I did that when I had my hens and I use crumbles. Worked better in the Fermented or just wet mash. I did have one hen that tried to eat Just the red bits.

Try keeping the hens out for a day and just fill the feeder with the hot pepper flakes and sprinkle on the ground... Might take a day or 2 to do this.
