Great plans. but there is one thing where I can’t agree . I think you were lucky. :

As far as predators, I do t have any ground predators in my area. No coyotes or raccoons or anything like that ( luckily 😅) , the only pesky predators around here are red tail hawks. So that’s why my coop is built the way it is. 🙂
Or do you live on the moon? There are predators everywhere. Even in towns: rats, foxes, ....

I agree....they are everywhere. I am smack dab in the middle of town and have fox, coons, hawks, owls, stray cats and yup....dogs.

I made a chicken coop out of an unused shed. I had 8 chickens and it was perfect. that’s where I was supposed to stop. I ended up collecting so many chicks I didn’t have room For them when they grew up. I rehomed 18 chickens and kept 11. my point is be careful about over doing it
I do see how it’s very easy to over do it, but I have a big enough free range run that can accommodate all the chicks I have once grown. The coop will need to be expanded and I will do that early next year, but for my 7 chickens that sleep in there now, it’s perfect 👌🏼

Lol 😂 I don’t live in the moon.
In all the years of keeping chickens here, I’ve never had ANY problems with raccoons or foxes or coyotes etc. like I said, only hawks and aerial predators of the sort. Maybe I am lucky 😉🐓

It seems like @Chicken Newbie07 posts basically ads for how to make cheap feed and coops. And most have false info and will result in bad care for the birds of those who do take these ideas and use them.

It is luck. Sooner or later you'll have a predator that tests your skills.

Chickens should have 4 as feet each in a coop. 16sq feet divided by seven is a little more than 2 per bird
Some people measure to the last inch of space or last pellet of food, I’m more laid back about that, but ALWAYS keeping my birds health in mind of course. What works for one may not work for all. At the end of the video, you can see how they are roosting getting ready for bed, and only 1 or two hens were still outside in that shot, there is PLENTY of space in my opinion and years of experience. They don’t distance themselves 2 feet apart, they actually cuddle up together to keep warm, especially in colder days.
The purpose of my post was to show how you can also make your own pallet coop for free, maybe give you an idea or two. But you can do what you feel is best for your flock. 😊

Yes, but what about when you have to shut them in for one reason or another. Sleeping is one thing, but cranky birds that want out will count to the last inch

I don’t post ads. I share how I KEEP MY FLOCK. No one if forced to do as I show, I simply give ideas and share my experience.
My birds eat grain, oh no. What you don’t realize is that they get great calcium supplements like oyster and eggs shells often, and they have natural grit 24/7 to help with digestion.
I do my best to always mention why these things I share work FOR ME.
Some people get really upset about me posting links to my videos I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️
