How I mix DE in my feed

l have two open top metal feeders with open tray around the bottom. I use the white powder FGDE that I purchase online, 35lb. paper sacks w/free shipping. I keep a quart canning jar w/lid in coop, and sprinkle it in food tray below feeder, every few days. I’m feeding chickens crumbles, and take index finger and put under bottom of rim to rake out more crumbles to mix DE into the feed. I tried DE that was grey in color & felt like hard small seeds. The chickens just picked around that, now I just use that product in there dust baths. When it’s used up won’t be purchasing again. All in for FGDE white powder, I take a teaspoon full myself every morning, got rid of my small hemiroid!!

Many animal feeds already have DE mixed in. It's used to help prevent bugs and as a drying agent (to dry out bugs).

I sincerely doubt that the FGDE had anything whatever to do with you eliminating your hemorrhoid... Sorry... I've heard DE is the cure for everything bad in the world... I just don't buy it. But if you feel that it is having some beneficial effect on you, more power to you.

The little white lie appearing above is called a testimonial and it is no different that what the old timey snake oil and patent medicine salesmen use to shout on the street corners in cowboy flicks. Go online and you'll find advertisements for FOOD GRADE TAPE WORMS (sanitized tapeworms that is) and these parasites are touted as a miracle weight loss aid. All the words "FOOD GRADE" mean is that the product has been repeatedly washed in some rather strong or harsh chemicals or detergents to remove most of the dirt and crud that was originally clinging to the product.

Testimonials can and have been used to "prove" any number of fraudulent facts from supposed (take your pick) racial superiority or inferiority, to eating Mercury is good for you or that the Earth is hollow and that the hollow center of the Earth is inhabited by a race of 3 eyed aliens with checkerboard colored skin. Sometimes the same testimonial is rolled out to "prove" both sides in some disputed lying contest.
