I am not aware of any harm it does to vaccinate the chicks for Marek's. I have not checked, but I think there is a pretty good chance you can get them vaccinated with a live virus and they are still considered organic. Hopefully some of our friends that actually know the requirements for certified organic could comment on that.
When I ordered from Cackle, they had a 15 cents per chick charge to vaccinate but with a $10.00 minimum. I was not getting 68 chicks, so I would have had to pay the minimum. For that $10.00 I could get 5 extra chicks. Since I had determined it was not a big deal here and I plan to hatch my own and not vaccinate them anyway, I did not see a benefit to me to have mine vaccinated. $10.00 is not a lot to pay for peace of mind if you are really that concerned about it.
I am not criticizing anybody one way or the other. Just make an informed decision and good luck.
