How is it possible? Has anyone been able to change their states' laws?

Hello i am new to this forum and to chickens and wanted to know how is it possible to be able to defeat city hall and change laws of states. I know of couple of states that still do not allow chickens in residential homes only in farms and need to change their laws. How and what are the steps to take to change these laws? And has anybody had good luck on changing their states' laws?

Please post your experiences or thought and idea on how to defeat and change the laws, and if you were able to change them for your states...what oproach you took.
