How is the best way to estimate a peacoks age????

We bought 3 peafowl in the early spring. We were told we had a male (obvious) with a full tail and to peahens. We didn't really have a clue what we were doing. Turns out..... all 3 were males. One is mature.....one has spurs a 1/2 long and loves to strutt. The other is just showing signs of spurs and does a lot of strutting if anything comes around . So how do we know the age??? We are going to sell/trade to 2 younger birds.

How do you know the other two are males too? Just in case- females can and do strut & grow spurs.. although female spurs typically are very thin with a sharp point.. compared with a big oval and blunt tip on the males.

If the younger two show a lot of barring on their wings/backs and a lot of blue on the necks, they're males, allright..

You have pics, yes peahens and even peachicks will display. And older peahens do get small spurs.

males get their color at 2 yr. old with short train, 3 year the long train,

Not much I can add but please send pics...there are a number of different types of peafowl...Indigo Blues...black shoulder...white...spalding..etc. Mine when they start to color have green necks...hens. Indigo or blue necks ..cocks. But if they are under a year they will have a more solid color on backs...hens. and a checkered back when they are cocks. I have started to beable to tell when they are days old simply by looking at the wing markings. Of course I only observe the natural born until someone leaves eggs in a nest and I have to (Yes HAVE to) do a little interferring.
