My Dh is working crazy hours this week and my chickens finished their food this morning. They have been on Purina Sunfresh. Well, with mine and his hours we ca't' get to the feed store at all this week. Even thouh I reminded him all LAST week we needed feed......:thun

So anyway he is at TSC since he had to pass it and it is open and bought me Dumor 15% Grower Finisher Poultry Feed. Is this stuff crap? Will my chicks (15 weeks) be ok until that bag runs out? Will they get sick switching brands like that? Boy, he really angers me!!!!!

I personally do not believe its as good as the Sunfresh, however, it is as or more expensive. I have had to use it when the feedstore I deal with runs out of sunshine grower, which is all the time, your chicks will be fine.

Thanks! I just hate switching them abruptly like that to another food when:

1) I love the Purina Sunfresh and they have been on it since day 1

2) I told DH over and over again last week every day that I was in dire straits for chicken feed and would be running out by Tuesday!!!

Anyway, I guess I will feed them that 50 lb and then by then they should be ready for Purina Sunfresh Layenea!

This is the perfect thread when the "d" in DH doesn't mean "dear"...

I've fed it before and had no problems. Its dusty but the chicks ate it and they are all healthy. We don't have a huge selection to choose from so what the store has is what the chicks eat. Small town.

They get a food brand change every now and then.

Edited because I can't spell!!!

We use the Purina SunFresh because it contains no animal proteins, contains no ingredients from China, and has not been involved in any recalls.

We have never purchased Dumor, so I don't know about their feeds.

Purina Start & Grow is 18% protein versus the 15% protein of the Dumor feed you mentioned.

It's all I had for my first batch of chicks, and none of them are retarted, and all are laying and happy

We didn't have much access to anything for the first couple of months with the chicks, so that was it, but now i've got them on the Orschlens brand of food. Nothing wrong with that one either. The Purina is nice, but really pricey comparatively. I can get 2 bags from Orschlens for the price of one Purina
