Hi guys!
Up until last Friday we had a breeding pair of apricot Calls, Billy and Lulu. They're 10 months old and I've seen them mate on numerous occasions.
On Friday, Lulu laid her first egg! Not even an hour later, a dog attacked them. Lulu managed to escape unharmed but Billy was killed. They're very much pets and we were devastated! I managed to track down a female call as a companion to Lulu (Daisy, her half sister) and she's since been much more settled! She's still laying and has so far produced 5 eggs.
I hadn't seen them mate in recent weeks but I'm assuming they still were! Does anyone know the approximate fertility time frame for ducks after mating? I'm really hoping that she sets and that we get some of our drake's offspring, but there's always the possibility that the eggs weren't fertile or that they won't hatch. Thanks!
