My 24 week old black australorp has been squatting for almost two weeks. She is now doing a "full squat" with shoulder up and out. I thought the egg was supposed to be within a week of the golden squat so I was just wondering how long you actually had to wait from 1st squat to 1st egg.

Thanks!!

If they free range, you might start looking around for that secret nesting spot. Sometimes they don't always catch on to the nesting box thing right away.

For one of my girls, it was a month from squat to first egg. For another one of my girls, it was 2 days from squat to first egg. Overall, though, on average it has been about 2 weeks from squat to first egg for our flock.
