How long after your pullet squat was there an EGG??

Hmmm shall have to keep an eye on my girls for this clue. I haven't seen my girls squat yet but hoping for eggs soon.

Not all of mine squat. My leghorn and sicilian buttercup don't. My orpington and *one* of my welsummers do. It's a sign but only one of the signs, and not for all pullets.

1-4 weeks for us - EEs and Marans. The EEs squatted for longer before an egg than the Marans though. So it might depend on the variety.

when mine squat, I pat them on the back and stroke them twice down their tail. Seems to stimulate them to lay sooner. Mine would lay with in the week.

My RIR and NHR both started laying within a week of squatting. MY OEG Bantam has never squatted that I've seen, and she's a great layer.

As soon as I saw the first squat I put in the nesting box with a plastic egg and a couple days later "WOOP THEY IT IS" What a great feeling.
