How long are eggs good? What if they were outside in the heat all day?

I got my first egg! But I'm worried because it was in the coop just now and I'm not sure when it was laid.

Will it be OK even if it was in 100 degrees all day?

Congrats on your first egg!

When in doubt throw it out. But in this case, you could save it!
I let the eggs I want to save just sit in a safe place where they won't get bumped or fall. They will eventually dry out. Then I display them in a little basket.

Place the egg in a bowl of water and if it doesn't float it's okay.

I wondered the same thing and then I had the following thought...eggs stay under a broody hen at about 100 degrees for 21 days and don't spoil, so I wouldn't think a day at that temp would make a difference.

Hey neighbors! We just ate it... my husband and son. It was a little bitty thing so we each got one bite.

I realized it HAS to be OK because most unless they consistently lay the eggs each morning before 6:30 when I leave for work, they'll all be bad. I read that in France they never refrigerate eggs, even in the store.

Do you guys all stay home all day so you can get your eggs right after they're laid?

Or do you get them when you get home from work? Surely everyone doesn't know what time they're laid?

I sometimes don't get the eggs until 7pm, due to work, they are fine!

Also, in Italy (maybe the rest of Europe too?) it is not uncommon at all to not refrigerate eggs. They buy 6 and keep them on the counter.
