How long before letting chickens in an area

The back corner of my yard is under a big tree and mostly unkempt. Full of leaves, weeds, and I'm sure bugs and other things my chickens would find wonderful. However, my dog frequently likes to poop there. I've blocked off his access, but there is no way I could find and pick up all his poop among the leaves and dirt clods, so how long would you all wait before letting chickens occasionally forage there?

If your concern is that the chickens may pick up worms or something from the dog poop, the answer is worm eggs will be there for years. However, many intestinal worms are species specific, or host specific. I don't know if there are any that dogs and chickens share, you might do some research on that. If your dog is on heartworm prevention, that also gets most of the intestinal worms that dogs get, so that would put you in the clear there. If you are worried about bacteria, most animals do eat poop of many different species, with out it causing a problem, I don't think chickens are very different in that regard. So I would think that a week of dry weather would be more than enough to wait, only to let the poop dry out from the wet weather we have had, because of the fuzz that poop can grow after a rain could be a little more risky. ( I am guessing here )
