I need to go out of town Sunday evening and will be retruning on Thursday afternoon. My chickens are laying about 5 eggs a day. Can the eggs sit Monday -Thursday and still be safe to eat? I usually collect the eggs everyday. I do have someone coming over to look after my animals - dogs, cats, chickens, fish.
Should I ask them to collect the eggs at least once while I'm gone. My chickens have a community nest and of course they all lay in the furthest corner of the box from the door. So the egges are not real easy to collect - I use a pasta spoon to scoope them up. Also, I'm nervous about having anyone else go into the coop - cat likes to sneek in, RR likes to try and escape, 2 dogs are not good with the chickens .......Your thoughts

Is it freezing where you are? If not they will most likely be ok. I leave my eggs on the counter until I use them. Many folks on this website do the same. Your only problem may be that while you are gone if no-one is collecting eggs, one of your chicks might accidently find out how tasty they are and become an egg eater!
