How long can an emu be away from heat?

So, I am about to hatch an emu and am going to raise it by itself in my house and wondered how long it can stay away from heat? Anyone know? Dont they in the wild spend hours at a time foraging with dad? It will have a brooder but because it will be alone it will imprint on me and will have to be with me. It will have a diaper for any messes

I've read past posts on the environments of newly-hatched chicks, and keeping them cozy warm seems always to be a priority. But as you asked:

yes, wild chicks do indeed spend all day foraging in miserably cold weather from Day One after hatching (though they cuddle up under dad at night, and when a little older sleep breast-to-breast in a little circle).
