Postal service lost my eggs. They just found them after 5 days. What are the chances their still viable?

It's very hard to say. Do you have any idea how old they were before they were shipped? Eggs can stay viable for up to 3 weeks, but that's pushing it hard. I wouldn't recommend incubating eggs older than 2 weeks, max, but since you paid for these I'd say give it a shot and

Remember when you get them to place them upright in a cool place (65*F or thereabouts) for 24 hours to let them settle before setting them. Good luck!

Thank you for the info. According to seller they collected on 23 July . there's no telling what temperature changes they went through while being shipped. I will try to hatch thank you again. Roxanne

i had 6 eggs at around 75 degrees for a week. then i tried to incubator them .after a week they all had blood rings and were no good.hope you have bettetr luck.best to find a local place i think. never trust the usps, ups or fedex

Fertiized eggs should be stored at roughly 60 degrees. 75 is too hot. A basement is a great place to store eggs until they are ready to go into the incubator. Holding them no longer than a week is best. 2 weeks at MOST

I think you should be all set. I have kept eggs for 12 days and still have some hatch. The time and the heat has probably lowered your hatch rate when they hatch though.
