Hi, can someone tell me exactly how long a newly hatched chick can stay in the incubator without food and water? He hatched around 3 hours ago and he is still the only one hatched. I'm wondering if I should leave him in there over night or put him in the brooder by himself? How many hours can a chick be safe in the incubator? Please help! Julie

The best results with chicks is get them on food as soon as they have their legs under control. The yolk sac isn't just for food it is for helping them while they get their gut working. It takes about three days which is why they have the yolk sac. It holds about 3 days worth of food. But the do need chickstarter and water as soon as their out of the hatcher. So have that water and food standing by.
