How long can I hold eggs for incubating?

How long can I hold eggs for incubating before they go bad? I want the eggs to be fertile and fresh as possible. Feed back in appreciated.

Up to 7 days is best.
I have hatched eggs as old as 16 days.

7-10 days is the recommended. After 7 days viability begins to decrease. But I have a 14 day old egg in my bator now that is thriving. Just riskier. I had the space so I kept it.
