I HAVE A RHODE ISLAND RED, THAT I BELIEVE SHE IS CLOSE TO 3 YEARS OLD. SHE JUST MOVED TO MY HOUSE, SHES BEEN HERE FOR THREE WEEKS, AND I ALSO HAVE A RED SEX LINK THAT IS A LITTLE OVER A YEAR OLD. THE RHODE ISLAND RED IS NOT LAYING AT ALL. AND THE RED SEX LINK HAS LAID MAYBE 1 A WEEK, THEN STOPPED. DO SOME HENS STOP LAYING EARLIER THEN OTHERS. THEY ARE NOT MOLTING. DO I NEED TO JUST BE PATIENT, MAYBE THEY WILL LAY AGAIN SOON? THE OTHER TWO CHICKENS ARE LAYING DAILY, IT JUST SEEMS LIKE THERE IS SOMETHG WRONG WITH THE TWO WHO ARE NOT LAYING. ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. THANK YOU, TRICIA

glad you have joined us.

There are a number of reasons a hen can stop or pause laying other than molting.

Here's a link that explores the issue in detail : http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps029
I like the graph on age and predictable % decline in egg production by ages, even up to 10 YO.

Stress of change can be one possibility and perhaps the new hen and the other are the only ones effected by this new chicken in the flock.

Do review the other possibilities and if you exclude those, then be patient.
