How long do chickens sleep?

I looked it up! It says they sleep for 7 hours.

They sleep in spurts, so you'd have to add up all those spurts day and night to find your answer.

Try and record the overnight sleeping with a game camera. Be certain to take into account season / photoperiod.

Well, but, how would you know if they are actually asleep or just 'resting their eyes'?
