How long do I give treatment before giving up?

A chick I got from TSC a few days ago had splayed leg. I've been using tape around its ankles but it doesn't seem to be working. This morning the toes began curling so I made a boot for it. But the joint doesn't seem to be straightening (the elbow?). I don't know what to do. I don't want to give up on this little guy but I also don't want to prolong his suffering.

I don't see any progress and it's been nearly 4 days.

I'm not the best at treating splayed legs, but here's some links that might help. Seems like most don't make it, but some do.

I would do some searching about a possible slipped tendon at the the search box top of this page. Also start chick vitamins or SaveAChick today in water. Poultry Pedia Podiatry is a good link to read about leg problems in chicks.
