I am interested in bringing in a Roo for breeding. This will be a 1:1 pairing. My question is how long does he need to stay for a good breeding to take place? I can't keep him around, he will be borrowed. I've seen vague references of "a few days". Can anyone provide or point me to something more concrete?

Thanks!!

if you see him do his job, i'd say a couple days to be sure. then you should be good.

Good Luck and God Bless!

It depends on how many you plan to hatch. A hen can lay fertile eggs up to three or four weeks with out a rooster, but after the first week, the fertility rate can really drop.

Thanks, I'll post again when it all "happens". That should be this spring, if we ever have one!
