How long do I need to keep them penned before FREE RANGE?

I have a male Guinea Bird that I have had for over 2 years. He is very used to my yard but he trys breeding my rooster. I need to get him a Guinea Hen. Would I even need to keep her penned since the male would be with her and he has never left? Thanks

They may not like each other at first, so yes, it would be a good idea to keep her penned where they can see each other for several weeks so they get used to each other, and so she knows where home is and does not fly off or get chased off and become a free meal for a predator.

I have 2 males and 1 hen that are out of last years hatching. I added another hen that is around the same age. After nearly 3 weeks the males still haven't accepted her. My older hen will peck at her but really doesn't pay her much mind in comparison to the males. I have them all in a long dog run that is divided, older ones on one side and the new hen locked on the other side so they can see her. When I let the older ones out to free range the males spend a lot of time trying to peck the new hen through the chain link fence. After watching the way the males act towards the new hen I believe they would chase her off if I let her out to free range with them. I don't know if they will ever accept her but I haven't given up yet.
