I found a roundworm in the poop of a new hen (>1 year) I recently got. I haven't run into this problem before in the last 10+ years of raising chickens. I've already bought Equine Safeguard to treat her, going with the .23mg/lb for five consecutive days plan, since I'm not sure if she might have other kinds of worms besides roundworms.
My question is, how long would she continue to potentially have roundworm eggs in her poop even after I treat her for these five days? How long would it take for all roundworms in her to be killed? As a biosecurity measure, would it be better to find her a new home to avoid any possibility of introducing roundworms to my backyard, or is it feasible to keep her quarantined until all traces of roundworms are gone from her system?
