I have two little cochins who still peep as they move around. No clucking or other noises, just peeping. Like they are tiny baby chicks? They are 8-9 weeks old now, were bought in a batch of 6 from the TSC pullet bin. One was very weak and almost died the first week I had them....these two have always been much smaller than the rest.

They are in with 4 other cochins the same age and 6 other chicks a week older. They run around peeping and flee in fear when any of the bigger chickens even look at them.

It sure seems like the other chicks stopped peeping after a couple weeks. Is it a submissive thing or...are they just weird?

Hmmmmm, maybe I will have long term peepers! They still do that shrill screaming if they get looked at funny, pecked, chased, etc by the big kids. THEY ARE SO CUTE OMG. I handled the one more as a baby since he was so weak....he is more tame than the rest. And has learned the only way to get any "treats" is to stick close to me....he gets just mowed down trying to jump into the fray with the big kids. But I will put my hand down with treats and bump all the others away so he gets some. And he is just peeping away the whole time, ha ha ha. Cracks me up. I've got the leghorn pullets honking, the little dudes peeping and the evil rooster crowing away in the background. Sounds like a petting zoo...I swear I only have chickens!
