How Long do you wait after the hatching date to dispose of the eggs?

I had 41 eggs in an incubator and all but 3 that were showing signs of development when I candled them at around day 10. They were supposed to hatch on Wednesday, but here it is Saturday and only one chick and no signs of ANYTHING from the others. Temperature was perfect at all times and humidity was right on. The only thing that didn't work out was the egg turner, which I thought had been plugged in...wasn't.

I'm so disappointed after waiting so long.

Before I disposed of the eggs, I would make a small hole into the air sac of one. I would then lightly prick the membrane to see if there was any bleeding. If membrane was still viable, I would seal the hole with tape/wax and wait patiently once again. Since one chick has hatched and there is no chirping or movement, I would not be overly optimistic, but would still be hesitant on tossing all eggs until checking for viability. Another test is to put eggs into a bowl of warm water so that they float. If they are viable, there should be some movement of the eggs. Good luck.

We have a standard of a week. After that a quick candle and if any question it's out. We have tried the pinhole but we have never had any good luck so we just kept it simple. You masters that can pinhole are amazing by the way. Lol

I did the water test on a few and according to that they should still be viable. I didn't want to disturb them any more than needed. I candled 2 and they looked fine. I'm hoping they are just late bloomers. Not doing the pinhole because I'm sure it would be to their demise.
