My daddy goes through 12- 15 jars a year, he uses local to help with the allgeries, I use it ever now and then. Then we use honey in the homemade cough syrup too.

Bees have been known to fly up to 10 miles in search of food and water sources but pretty much stick close to home.

Honey is a natural antiseptic.

"Sweet words are like honey, healing to the bones"...Bible verse.

PC, your honey is perfectly good...use away!!! Honey is an unfriendly medium for bacterial growth because of it's acidity and high density. It also has low levels of hydrogen peroxide which add to it's purifying abililities. The potency of honey as an anti bacterial agent is greatly reduced by heat, but your honey is raw and unfiltered.

As for allergies, anything within a 50 mile radius is considered local. The idea is the honey comes from the same flowers as cause the allergy. If you're lucky, as little as a tablespoon a day can ease pollen related allergies. Some people apply it to heal minor cuts and burns too. Supposedly Alexander the great and other important ancients were embalmed in it, but I wouldn't want to try that use! I prefer it on toast.

Different nectar sources. I've had frames of honey with both very blond and very dark honey cells on the same frame. It's all in the blossoms the bees have visited.
