How long does it reaaly take?

Just an update, because a couple different things have happened over the past several days.

Our next broody momma's chicks hatched, and she did not get kicked out. In fact, no one really cares that she and her chicks are there. She chose a spot in a corner for nesting at night. She stayed in the hen house the whole time she was sitting. So two broodies with their babies (several weeks apart), are fine all together. Today I have been more concerned about our ostracized Buff Orpington momma and chicks because the temperature has dropped drastically with our first winter storm, and she has just been out in the garden in a doghouse. When I went to check on her tonight, she was not there. I found her inside the hen house with everyone else, all nested down in the bedding for the night! I wish she had gone into a nest box instead of the dirty floor bedding, but I am very happy that she is actually inside, and not just out in the yard. She is also nesting only 2 feet away from the other momma who was being so mean to her. I hope this means that the feud is over! :-D
