How long, on average, does it take for the chick to break the shell and eventually emerge after I can hear peeping from inside the shell? The eggs are under my silkie, so I can't see anything or hear anything unless I move her, which I don't want to do.

Whoa- could- be more then 48 hours, relax and enjoy- maybe more, what day are you on and what temp?

I heard cheeping 1-2 days before anybody was ready to hatch last time.

But I've not hatched much.

I have no idea what temp it is. The temperature of a silkies underside is all I can say. I placed the eggs under her on a Saturday exactly 3 weeks ago, so depending on how you figure, either 20 or 21 days ago.
