HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A CHICK TO ACTUALLY HATCH!?

Actually it didnt smell. I didnt open it enough to see if the yolk had been all the way absorbed. I should have though. I just didnt know what the green stuff was so i didnt mess with it. I have another that should be hatching anytime and I dont want the same thing to happen to it if it can be prevented

Thank you all so much for replying my chick starting hatching but then once mostly all the shell had come off... It had some almost like glued on its neck and back... I put warm water on it and it slowing came of,.. The chick is sitting on some paper towel and chirping... Is what I did ok and what should the chick be doing after its been out of the shell for about 30min
??????
Thank you!!

Yes that's fine if you got the shell off. I would now leave it and try not to open the incubator too much as this will let all humidity out that you have built up. After 30 mins the chick will rest quite a lot it's a long tiring process for them to hatch so don't be surprised if it spends a lot of time asleep. Good luck with the rest of your hatch.:fl

The chick died overnight.. :(
I don't know how but its not sleeping.
I still haven't had any movement from the eggs and its day 24 for some...

I'm very sorry to hear about your chick dying:hugs. You did all you could to help but I'm afraid it's all part of hatching and does not always turn out good. I would still leave the other eggs till the end of day 25 just incase. Hope you hatch again wishing you the very best of luck.

I have a Bantem Hen who has been sitting for about 3 weeks!! i have found 2 dead chicks and the rest hatched! Should I worry its been like 90 outside!

I'm a little confused by your post. Has your hen left the nest with the hatched chicks? We're the dead ones in the nest or outside with the hen when you found them dead? Has the hen and chicks got plenty of shade?

Thank you for your reply!! She has only left to eat or drink, no live chicks have hatched, the eggs that were found were on the out of the nest, they seemed to have been broke open! Im worried that the hen killed them! But nature mommies do that if something is wrong apparently!
