Almost two weeks ago I treated all my chickens for lice. Before they were treated, their egg production went down from averaging 8 a day to about 3 a day. So far, there seems to be no more signs of the lice but I still plan to retreat them and their coop this Friday. Since the first treatment, I have been giving them yogurt every other day. They also get a daily treat of black oil sunflower seeds and other misc things we have left over (ie: tomatoes, watermelon, etc.)

Here is my problem... my ten hens are still only laying about 4 eggs a day!!!! Shouldn't their bodies have recuperated from anemia by now??... it has been two weeks! How long will it take for them to get back to normal laying?

When I treated my BR for cocci last year it took her about 5-6 weeks before she started laying again. He case was quite severe and it turned out that she also had a heavy load of roundworms.

When was the last time they were wormed? Just like the last post said it could be a number of things. To recover faster (after you determine if they need to be wormed) you can give them treats like scrambled eggs, spinach and cottage cheese. Yogurt is full of protein. My chickens will not eat it unless it is mixed with Cheerios. Little divas! Do not give them all the treats they can eat, just a teaspoon or 2 per day. They also sell water soluble chicken vitamins.

Good luck
