How long does it take for feathers to grow back?

Our hen was feather picked by another hen and although she is doing better ...how long does it take for her feathers to grow back?

It depends. Was the shaft of the feather pulled out of the skin or is the feather broken with the shaft still in the skin?


If there is a shaft, no feather will regrow until she molts that shaft. If there is no shaft, a new feather should start forming/growing but will not be visible for awhile (first sign will be a dark purple blood feather).

Some were yanked out in full. Maybe they will grow back soon.
