Don't brooder raised duckling take a few weeks to get their down/feathers oiled up enough to go swimming?

They can start as young as a few days with warm water up to tops of legs this will actually get them preening and get the oil gland working. You can't leave them long but it's a good start.

Always stay and supervise when tiny ones are in water.

Thank you I will do. Another hatched a hour or so ago but I needed to go out so left it in the incubator to dry would it be okay for a hour or so? I'm on my way back now so will see if its okay

Yes actually they should stay in the bator till they are dry an fluffed.

Here they are now I got the 3 others in the incubator. Got 1 yellow and the rest brown and bits of yellow through them. Thanks for all your help

Precious little ones Congrats!! You may even have some with more Runner traits like standing up tall, I do love my Runners. Please post pic often when you can

Here's all 5 . How long roughly till they start eating and drinking? I know they have the yolk to last them till they start just wondered if I should leave it in the box with them I tried today with the yellow but it some how spilt the water and it was on its back struggling to get back on its belly

Aww! I have 2.5 week chicks ( I don’t know why I said that tho) and hope you enjoy the ducklings! What is it like raising ducklings?

The sure are adorable. I’d leave the food and water in with them usually after about 24 hrs they begin to get hungry. What are you using for their water? If you go on fist page of the duck forum on left side top before threads start you’ll see the sticky’s scroll down till you see raising and caring for ducklings there is a pic of a homemade waterer perfect for keeping them from getting into turning over or getting wet and chilling. You might still have to show them both food and water to get them started.
