From a respitory infection? My Maple has had it since last Saturday. She is still sneezing every 5 seconds, but the gasping is only after she drinks. I have her on antibiotics, vitamins and probiotics. I'm treating the whole flock with vitamins, they have not gotten sick from her. This illness is causing me to lose sleep. I just want her better. Maple turned 5 weeks and is eating and drinking well. There is no drainage. Her symptoms are sneezing, gasping for air and fluffing of feathers. She acquired this from her crop being full of pine chips.

Last Saturday the gasping was constant. I didn't think she was going to survive. I'm very lucky she is still alive.

Hey Nicole...Is her crop big and hard, soft and mushy, or normal size? If the contents are not moving, you might try mineral oil in a medicine dropper. And if they don't move and the crop starts to sour, you can use the "spice recipe" to help with crop issues. I had to use this on a little one I had this spring because she had Avian Encephelomyelitis (sp) and after recovering her crop refused to move food. I didn't have the garlic on hand so I left that out.

I don't know if this will help, but you can keep in on hand just in case or future use. My babies ate TONS of wood shavings as babies. Usually those things move thru the body ok. But keep up the treatments as what ever is ailing her should pass.
