Ever since my Maple ate too much pine chips and was stuck in her crop, she came down with pneumonia. I have her on antibiotics and probiotics. I'm keeping her under the heat lamp where it's toasty warm. She has been eating and drinking very well. I'm assuming she is going to pull through. However, she is wheezing and sneezing every 2 seconds. Her nose is clear and no drainage. She is feathering out nicely and is 5 weeks old.

How long does this last? I'm losing sleep due to being so worried. I check her through the night and she is fine. Her poops are back to normal as well. She has been sick for 3- 4 days, but it feels like forever.

Give the antibiotics time to work. If she starts to feel better, make sure to keep her on the antibiotics, or this problem may come back again.

You're doing everything you should be. One other thing to check, though: does her crop feel stuffed, like it isn't draining properly? The shavings she ingested could impact her crop. It's really hard to tell with a chick, but it's best to keep and eye out for it.

Best of luck with her!

Yes, but I don't know if it's bacterial or viral. I'm not taking chances though. I don't want to lose my sweet girl. I hope she recovers soon.

I can't feel her crop right now,she is a bit skinny. Maple has a pine eating addiction. However, ever since this incident I've only seen her eat food. I wet her food with water too and she gobbles it up, plus she is eating dry food. I'm a bit surpised how well she is doing now. I thought she was for sure going to die over the weekend. What a tough little girl for being so small.
