how long in the fridge?

Newbie question:
How long are the fresh chickens good for in the fridge? I have a killing party next Tuesday and a HUGE Chicken roast on Sunday. Do I need to freeze and thaw them, or can i leave them in the fridge for 5 days? I'm sure grocery store chicken is older then 5 days.... isn't it? Any opinions would be appreciated!

Keep very cold and you should be fine. Ice chill them before you refrigerate. Get the fridge as close to 32 degrees as you can.

I've kept fresh ones in there for 2 weeks and they have been fine. We do a week all the time and don't even think about it.
