I have a wonderful Ancona drake who is about four years old. I wonder how long he will remain fertile. I bought Benedict as a young adult and he has been such a gentleman from the very beginning. Last year, he tried to teach some manners to a hatched drake, Grendal, who just wouldn't learn and ended up as someone's dinner. Ben probably has earned his place to become an 'elder' in the flock. We hatched ducklings last July and there are several drakes in that bunch. I do not want a large flock but consider keeping one of them after observing their temperments. Any ideas, info or suggestions?

I'd say Ben will be fertile for more years than 4. But to be sure maybe research it.
