I have been incubating some eggs. Two of the eggs went into the incubator the same day. One of the two eggs hatched 3 days ago, unfortunately that chick had a hernia thing going on and died. The other eggs has not hatched yet not even a pip (i think that's the word used) and it's day 24. Is it safe to say it's not going to hatch and I should discard it?

I can only tell you what I do, it's always a tough decision so you'll have to choose for yourself of course. But I wait until the end of day 23, then I candle and listen to the egg with a stethoscope. If I see no motion and hear no peeping or clicking (which is actually the noise the chick makes while breathing, if it has pipped internally), I discard the egg.

Thank you. I have tried to listen for any sound from the egg and not a peep.

I am going to discard it.

I would open them before toss to see what went wrong- Hernia chicks need theirs stuff connected if possible, it can be hard when they kick it all around, they also need the exposed hernia part dry, dry, dry. they need to be ex-warm and beaks dipped in yolk water.

X2!

I always eggtopsy to see what happened. I adjust the incubator for the next hatch based on that.
